IEC was founded by R. Vijayraghavan, a specialist DC motor designer and a revered name in the Indian industry.

Vijayraghavan, who has been a Director of IEC, since its inception in 1982, and Managing Director since 1985, has more than 30 years of rich experience working on DC Machines. He started his career as a DC motor designer with BBC (now ABB) at Mannaheim, Germany and returned to India after a 4 year stint. Subsequently, he joined Kirloskar Electric Company as a DC motor designer. This was at a time when the potential for DC motors was untapped in India with the industry unaware of the benefits of using variable speed drives for different applications.
Vijayraghavan, then started to educate users and was largely responsible for promoting these motors in various applications in the Indian industry. It is due to these efforts that he is recognised as a pioneer who popularised the usage of DC motors in India.

P. Manjunath Rao joined IEC in 1982 during its inception after working in Kirloskar Electric Company for 5 years. He is currently the General Manager of Production Facilities and is responsible for all the facilities development at IEC.

Dr. V. Prabha started working in the Accounts Department from 1985 and was inducted as Director of Finance in 1996.

G. Guruswamy joined IEC in 1991. He is currently the Manager of the AC Drives division and is responsible for all the activities of the division including purchase, production and marketing.

M.N. Vishwanath joined IEC in 1993. He is currently the Marketing Manager in charge of Marketing of AC Motors and AC Drives. Prior to joining IEC, he worked for 10 years in the Marketing Department of Kirloskar Electric.

S. Ravi joined IEC in 1994. He is currently the Marketing Manager of the DC Machines division. Prior to joining IEC, he worked for 10 years in the Marketing Department of Kirloskar Electric.

V. Sanjay joined IEC in 1996 after obtaining a M.S. Degree in Systems and Controls Engineering at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland OH. He is currently the General Manager of Marketing and Production is responsible for all the marketing and production activities of the company.

S. R. Alagam Bhat joined IEC in 1997 as Marketing Manager for AC Generators. Prior to that he was employed as a Marketing Manager in Kirloskar Electric. Apart from marketing of AC Generators, he also manages the task of getting various approvals to different products.

M.U. Chiplunkar joined IEC in 2000 after working in Kirloskar Electric Company for 19 years. He is currently the Senior Manager of the Design Department and is responsible for the design of DC Motors and AC Motors.

P. Aruna Kumar joined IEC in 2001 after working in Hindustan Machine Tools for 21 years. He is currently the Senior Manager of Quality.

Dr. Praveen Vijayraghavan joined IEC in 2002 after obtaining a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg VA. He is currently the General Manager of Materials.
