- The AVR derives its power from
independent auxillary windings that are designed
to provide a stable source of supply even during
short circuit conditions. This ensures that the
excitation is very stable and is largely independent
of the load.
- The excitation is controlled using
PWM Switching. This results in excellent output
control and stability even while supplying 100%
thyristor loads, furnace loads and other distorting
loads.
- IGBT's are used for good dynamic
response and reliability. Metallized polyester
capacitors that have stable characteristics
up to 125°C are used to ensure that the
AVR's performance does not drift.
- The AVR combines a high field forcing
capacitywith low voltage excitation windings
to ensure fast response to sudden excitation
demands.
- The AVR is mounted in a separate
terminal box. The components are all over-rated
and the design is very safe. This makes the
AVR inherently reliable.
